Music Boosters Meeting

April 11, 2013

Those present were Chris Kaschube, Dana Ruth, LaNeta Wertz, Ann Pfister, Vicki Brubaker, Leann Adkins, Tammy Goodman, Heidi Vitte, Bonny Young and Pam Ross.

Mr. Kaschube reported that Jazz Band is coming along, and he would like to schedule a couple of performances including one at the Lexington Child Development Center.  Cleveland Indians tickets are almost sold out (only 7 left), and the boosters need to send a final payment check of $4,050.  Highland’s check for their portion was mailed to us today.  For band students the cost is $18 for the ticket plus $10 for the t-shirt. Awards are in for the May 8^th Spring Awards Concert.  This concert will include all bands (5^th grade through high school).  The band will be performing at Cedar Pointe on June 4^th.  Tickets for performers will be $30.  Band camp will begin on August 12^th this year.  Marching band schedule will include performances at the Crestline Harvest Festival as well as the North Union Festival of Bands.

Miss Wertz reported that the musical, Once Upon A Mattress, was a great success.  All items have been returned.  The dinner after the dress rehearsal was a very nice touch, and the cast was very appreciative.

Mrs. Ruth reported that Knight Sounds will be performing at the Governors Art Show in Columbus on May 15^th.  They will also be delivering quilts they have made to Childrens Hospital and have lunch at Polaris on that day.  On May 17^th Jazz Band and Knight Sounds will perform for the elementary students in the elementary gym from 9-10am.  The Spring Awards Concert for choir will be held on May 20^th at 7pm.  Awards are either here or on their way.  The concert which is to be held on the stage in the old school gym will include JH and High School Choirs as well as JH Honors and Knight Sounds plus 6 senior solos.  Knight Sounds auditions are scheduled for May 22^nd at 3pm.  Seven students are planning to go to show choir camp in July at a cost of $150 per person.  The student portion of the cost is $65.  A check for $1,200 will be sent to Show Choirs of America.  The High School Choir will be performing at graduation on June 2^nd.

Treasurer, Leann Adkins, reported that according to Tina Gabler there is an old account with $174 in it that the Music Boosters can have.  We have received a letter from the IRS saying that we haven’t filed with them from 2011.  Leann will check with her accountant on it.  We may need to submit a Return of Income for Non-Profit Organization.  This month’s financial report is attached.

Old Business

273 events are scheduled for the OMEA Jr High Solo and Ensemble Contest to be held here at Northmor on April 20^th.  Judges will stay at the Hampton Inn for Friday night.  There will be 6 performance rooms.  We are renting 4 pianos plus using pianos we have here.  Our pianos have been tuned and will be tuned again next week.  There will be a judges meeting at 7:30am.  Miss Wertz’s room will be the base for our student workers.  Miss Wertz will be in charge of the judges’, directors’ and workers’ breakfast and lunch.  Concessions will be headed up by Vicki Brubaker and Tammy Goodman.  Doors open at 7am.

New Business

A thank you card from the musical cast was presented to the music boosters.  Ann Pfister was given permission to store her bass in the storage space in the old building.  Election of officers will be held at next month’s meeting on May 9^th at 7pm.

Bonny moved to adjourn, Leann 2^nd and the meeting was adjourned.
