5/1/2020

On the behalf of the Northmor Local Schools Board of Education, administration and staff, I would like to commend your student on his/her upcoming high school graduation. We know this is an event that students and families have been looking forward to since the beginning of their educational careers. We also understand that this worldwide pandemic has changed the way we all live. It is important to us to provide a safe and healthy way to showcase these seniors and their educational accomplishments even during this pandemic.

Based on guidance and directives from the Governor of Ohio and Ohio Department of Education, we will not be able to host a traditional graduation ceremony this year. We have worked very hard to plan a way to honor seniors as they say farewell to high school and move on to do great things during the next stage of their lives. We have consulted the Morrow County Board of Health and received their blessing to go forward with the plan we have developed. Our plan was also deemed appropriate by one of the models allowed by the state in their most recent guidance. However, keep in mind that this guidance has changed and may change again prior to May 31. In the event of changes, we will update seniors directly and post updates to the district webpage and FaceBook.

We want to invite you to attend a graduation celebration on Sunday, May 31st, 2020 at 2:00 PM. On this day, graduates and guests should arrive at the Northmor Event Entrance Parking Lot in one vehicle All graduates should arrive with all guests in only one vehicle, no later than 1:30PM. Upon arrival, each graduate will be directed to park in an assigned location. At the assigned time, graduates will be driven to the Event Entrance sidewalk and allowed to exit the vehicle to pick up diplomas, have their name and accomplishments read and turn their tassel. All

others must remain in the vehicle and may video or take pictures from the closeup vantagepoint. Seniors will be given more direction as the date draws nearer.

Audio equipment will be used to broadcast speeches and student recognition throughout the parking lot. The event will also be livestreamed for family and community members to access remotely. The event will also be recorded by BS Media Productions and included as part of a production along with speeches, slide shows and other highlights from the year which will be provided to each senior courtesy of Northmor Local Schools. A professional photographer will also be on hand taking pictures.

We ask that all students and guests respect school policies and current health guidelines. The Morrow County Board of Health is only allowing us to proceed in this manner with the understanding that seniors are the only ones exiting the vehicles. Behavior of all present is reflective of the high expectations of the Northmor Local Schools.

If your student is not able to or wishes not to attend the graduation ceremony, diplomas may be picked up in the high school office beginning the week of June 3, 2020.

Please understand this is the best information we have at the time and is intended as a planning tool for our students and families. Things are changing on a daily basis and we will continue to update with plans as they become more clear. As we get closer to the date of graduation, we may be required to make changes to the event. Thank you for your cooperation in making this celebration for the Class of 2020 a success.

Congratulations on this monumental accomplishment! We hope you will look back fondly on your years at Northmor and feel a part of this school community throughout your life. We wish you all the best in the future.

Sincerely,

Brendan Gwirtz
